Stock Ticker plugin silently errors on index symbols...

I configured my stock ticker plugin with the symbol list "^DJI ^IXIC F T" (Dow Jones index, NASDAQ index, Ford, AT&T). There were no error messages, however, the symbols and prices appeared to be in a random order. First I thought it might be an ordering problem; the symbol list "F T ^DJI ^IXIC" correctly showed Ford and AT&T, but the index symbols were missing. I then tried other syntax variations such as .IXIC and IXIC by itself but to no avail. Which leads me to my questions/bugs:
1) How can I get the stock ticker to display index quotes?
2) Where do I go to lookup the ticker symbols that the stock ticker plugin recognizes? (the pertelian.com says they may soon add overseas symbols!)
3) How can I point the stock ticker at a different server (for instance to collect from a real time feed?)
4) Can the stock ticker plugin be updated to report an error when it does not recognize a symbol?
Thank you,
Mark

Hey mwarren,
In answer to your questions:
1) To be honest, from what I know, we've only tested this feature with just regular stock symbols like GOOG, IM, FORD, etc, so it would not surprise me if the index stocks, which require symbols like ^ don't work.
2) Pertelian should recognize all stock tickers which are made up of letters like above.
3) We collect this stock information in a very particular way. Getting it from another source would require a new feature.
4) A very good idea.
I will put this feedback into our bug list. We are working on a very exciting stock feature currently and we'll hopefully be able to bring a little new life into Stock Ticker as well.

I am using multiple stock ticker monitoring by checking abbreviation in UK ( usually either 1st few letters of name or abbrev letters such as BARC for Barclays Bank or FP.L for Friends Provident ,followed by ".L" for London stock exchange.
Maybe . "another letter(s)" for other country exchanges.
So similar must operate in USA.
Leave 1 or 2 spaces in Pertellian config between names.. shows multiple scrolling info for each item.

This is still on our bugs chopping block, we'll get to it as soon as humanily possible.

I'm having similar problems in that I can't figure out how to get the ticker to work with market indexes. (DJI, IXIC, OSPTX.TO, etc)
Is there anyone that has got this working?
Where can I find out more about how/where the ticker is pulling symbols from?

Hello jmacnider,
Stock Ticker has always lacked these abilities from the get go. Hopefully, the new version of Pertelian will address these issues.
We are committing all of our resources to developing the next generation Pertelian application. This isn't to say that we aren't still releasing bug fixes and such but it's definitely coming slower. With the next generation around the corner, the Pertelian team will start to shift gears over to it to give it the support it needs.
