A few bugs - Please help

Postby bmccord » Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:31 pm

Ok. I have a couple of bugs with the newest software. Almost everything works except the following.

1. When I click on browse in the PertLauncher addon or in the Alarm Clock settings to select a file, the software stops responding and I have to end the process.

2. When a new IM comes in, the LCD does not flash (I don't have the "Disable IM Flashing" checkbox checked).

I am running on Vista Ultimate 32 Bit. I have tried running the software as administrator, but these things still do not work.

Does anyone know?

Hello bmccord,
I'm sorry that you are having issues with Pertelian, I'll try to answer all of your questions as best as I can.

1. (PertLauncher) Unfortunately, we have no control over the maintenance of third party developed plug-ins. As the Pertelian software evolves, third party plug-ins sometimes need a tuneup. Some developers are more attentive than others maintaining their plug-ins.
(Alarm Clock) Can I get some more clarification on this issue? Do you mean that in the Digital Clock plugin, whenever you click on "Browse" within a timezone menu to add a wav file to an alarm, Pertelian freezes up? If so, this might be related to a Vista issue since I have been unable to reproduce that problem. If possible, please elaborate a bit.

2. The IM flash feature has seen its share of stability issues since its introduction. Since our resources are spread so thin, we are unable to deal with this issue immediately in order to give full attention to the Pertelian V6 release. One of our goals for this release is a much more stable IM Flash system.

I'm sorry if I haven't been able to give you simple answers to your questions. We're are all pushing ahead as best as we can to deliver a new generation of Pertelian software written from the ground up. Please don't hesitate to message again if you have any questions.

Here are the answers to your questions.

1. Yes, I understand the PertLauncher is a third party developed plug-in. I only brought it up because it is doing the same thing that the alarm clock is doing. Yes, it is the browse button when I try to add a wav file to an alarm. The file selector dialog never comes up, and Pertelian freezes. I have to end the process and restart.

2. I understand and look forward to the new version.

Hello bmccord,
I have tested this bug on several of our machines running XP x32 and Vista x32 without detecting this problem. Let's see if we can find out what Pertelian is doing on your system.

Pertelian keeps a log during operations which sometimes can let us know what the source of a problem is. Please follow these steps.

- Start Pertelian
- Go through the steps you need to reproduce this issue
- When Pertelian freezes, end task
- Then go to your Pertelian folder usually "Program Files -> Pertelian" then open the "log" folder. There you will see a text file called Pertelian.log. Please email me that log file at alex@pertelian.com and we'll see if it can shed some light as to what's happening.
