Pertelian doesn't like to Hibernate

Postby rck » Tue Oct 02, 2007 10:52 am

Hi all, I've discovered a small problem with running Pertelian X2040 on my Notebook. After waking up the notebook from hibernate, pertelian only lights up its background illumination and shows nothing.

Disconnecting and reconnecting in the Pertelian client helps. Is there a better way?

Thanks!

Hey rck,
If memory serves, this bug was reported a very long time ago and I believe somewhere down the line it was fixed. What could have happened and since the slew of new releases and versions, this bug has reappeared. I've entered it on our block to take a look at.

I to am experiencing this. on the x2040 and vista 32 premium. I have to unplug the display close the program and then plug the display back in then launch the software. after that it's gravy.

Problem still exists

Pertelian Version 5 - Update 2008.06.04 - X2040

When I leave it on overnight, I wake up to a backlit screen with no symbols. The LCD Emulator shows that Pertelian is running just fine ... on my computer screen emulator. But no symbols show up on the actual little LCD monitor.

The suggestion above worked. Unplug. Shut down. Plug back in. Re-launch the program. Had to use the CTRL-ALT 4 command to toggle the backlight but it works fine. So glad to find this quick fix.

Want y'all to know that this problem is still there.

having this problem on a daily basis and the fix i mentioned previously still works but this is quite annoying. i only use my pert after each restart until it hibernates now cause i am tired of unplugging it. my cousin who bought on my recommendation doesnt use his at all anymore. wondering if anyone in the homebrew have a solution to this or if alex has a slightly more accurate timeline (i realize you dont want to set a date and have it get pushed back) but is there a conservative estimate even by quarter? are we talking this year? etc. any info is appreciated. and i still love the thing and the prompt replies and personal touch that you give to each question.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work

Hey Ralphmalph,
I appreciate the issues you are having and we're doing the very best we can with Version 6. Are resources are taxed to the limit and it's extremely difficult to put a timeline on its release. The release should at the very least come this year, the question is just when this year.

Within the year is good enough for me (and even if it is later). Again appreciate the response and the work you guys are doing.

Just wanted to add my similar experience with sleep states.
I do not have Hibernate enabled, however I do have my PC set to go into S3 sleep. The end result is the same as others expressed. System wakes up, pertelian lights up, and that's it.

The only difference is that I do not need to unplug the LCD to get it going again. I only need to shut down the Pert application and restart it. This of course only lasts until the next time the computer goes to S3 sleep. This is extremely annoying as it turns the LCD into an irritating eyesore until I can't stand it any more and in despair, shutdown and restart the pertelian.

Configuratin I'm using;
Pert v5
WinXP Home Edition w/SP3
foxconn mb 720MX AM2+ NF720A
AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core

I get the same results regardless if the LCD is plugged directly to the USB on the back of the PC or through a Powered USB hub (CyberPower 4 port).

I also tested this issue using PassMark Sleeper Software. The result is repoduceable and consistant.

Regards,
Bruce

Hey brucef2112,
We haven't tested Pertelian with sleep states but we are trying to address the issue Pertelian has with hibernate. It's a slated item on our V6 build and might also fix the issue with sleep.
