Windows XP x64 users

Postby Alex » Mon Aug 13, 2007 6:37 pm

Some Windows XP x64 users may have trouble having their Pertelian's connect properly. The reason may lie in Pertelian's new 'Detect and Connect' feature which automatically finds and configures your Pertelian unit to the corresponding COM port. We are currently looking into this issue. If this is the case for you, please download and install the latest Pertelian V4 release. With these versions, users have to manually set their COM ports in the Pertelian GUI. Installation and connection is covered in Pertelian manual V4 1.5 available for download on this website.
We're sorry for the inconvenience. Please bare with us as we fix this issue.

Hi Alex,
Is there any way to manually edit a file to set the correct com port for version 5 ? Just wondering, I would like to take advantage of the multi-timezone plug-in.

That's a possible temporary solution we are looking into actually.

Just to update everyone. I met with Vicken about some of the outstanding issues we have. Here's what came about:
- The Windows XP x64 Detect and Connect issue is our first priority. We're putting everything on hold to take care of that.
- We'll be taking a look at the XP x64 TeamSpeak issue but from what we see, it's not something on our end. As Broken0007 mentioned, the TeamSpeak .dll and SDK is in 32 bit and does not support 64 bit. There MIGHT be something we can try in the future but it won't be for some weeks.
- There has been a report that Pertelian Monitor for eBay does not work on Windows XP x64. We'll be taking a look at that as well.

We think we nailed down the XP x64 Detect and Connect issue and the fix should be released in our latest build.

I can confirm that the 2007.09.03 release detect and connect feature is now working on x64. I installed and ran it just now. Ahhh, it's nice to be back on the newest version!

One funny thing to note for Vicken... the installer is not properly detecting the Visual J# redistributable. It thinks the version installed is 0.0, and not 2.0. I saw this over a year ago, reported it (http://pertelian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=719), and it was fixed. Take a look at the first screenshot in the first message of that thread for the error message that I'm seeing now. It's not a show stopper though, I can just choose to not install the update, and things run fine from there.

Also, switching to the TeamSpeak plugin crashes Pertelian. I know that I've reported in the past that the TeamSpeak plugin doesn't work on x64, but it would never crash Pertelian... it would just show a blank screen and you could Ctrl-Alt-3 right past it. In order to use any plugins ordered in the list below TeamSpeak, I have to disable the TeamSpeak plugin. No info appears to be logged at the time of the crash... the log just stops.

Thanks for the logs!

We're looking into removing the VJS requirement altogether in the near future.

And the Teamspeak in XP 64 issue is currently making progress and is due for release soon.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo happy that Pertelian TeamSpeak plugin works on WinXP x64 now!

I'd love to elaborate on how excited I am right now, but I need to get back to playing Guild Wars with my guildies while chatting with them on TeamSpeak and being able to see who's talking! Woot!
